School Summary

Lighthouse Connections Academy (LCA) is a tuition-free K–12 online public school that students attend from home. Authorized by Oxford Community Schools, Lighthouse Connections Academy is state certified and open to students located throughout Michigan including Troy, Royal Oak, Bloomfield Hills, Rochester, Farmington, and beyond.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Working from our office in Southfield, Michigan, the School Office Manager is responsible for managing a team of administrative assistants and working directly with the school leadership team on daily administrative tasks such as entering data into the school or district systems.

Term of Project: Based on potential student enrollment changes, this position will work until the end of each enrollment period of the 2026-2027 school year. At that time, the school and department leadership will evaluate the status of this position and could extend it for the following enrollment period or school year if they deem it necessary. Full time positions are eligible for most employee benefits, including medical, dental and vision.

  • Manage, train, and support administrative assistants who report to the office
  • Oversee the daily work of the office team, including, but not limited to records management, coordinating event logistics, enrollment tasks, withdrawal processing, processing transcript requests, receiving and sending student portfolios, communicating with staff and families.
  • Work in collaboration with Pearson Virtual School’s State Reporting and Compliance teams to ensure required data (ex. Immunization Records) are entered into various school and district information systems in an accurate and timely manner
  • Maintain accurate employee records, including fingerprints both onsite and in school operating systems
  • Create and update school Standard Operating Procedures
  • Work directly with Pearson Virtual School’s Facilities and local Property Management teams
  • Responsible for managing school phone system
  • Accountable for mail and voicemail that comes into the office
  • Maintain and update the Office Emergency Plan
  • Assist School Leadership Team as needed with daily tasks and projects
  • Assist families and school stakeholders with questions both on the phone and in the office
  • Additional duties as assigned 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college/university preferred High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Michigan Residency required
  • Strong ability for reporting accuracy
  • Knowledge of Michigan State and ISD Reporting Systems (CEPI, MCIR, Catamaran, etc.)
  • Ability to understand all components of billing, receiving payments, general accounting 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and web-based applications is essential
  • Intermediate or higher skill level in MS Excel 
  • Proficiency with Google Applications (Mail, Calendar, Drive, Chat, Documents, etc.)
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality (FERPA) 
  • Good interpersonal skills and attention to detail 
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written 
  • Customer focused approach
  • High degree of flexibility
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in fast paced team environment 
  • Experience in K-12 education and/or State educational reporting a plus
  • Preferred: experience with computer-based Information Systems
  • Travel and attendance at in-person events, including State Testing is required throughout the school year, as determined by the school. This may require overnight travel
  • Ability to work some occasional evening hours, as needed to support some families
  • Must be able to use a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication.
