Description:  Substitute Teacher for Cartersville City Schools
Qualifications: 
Applicants must:


  1. Be 21 years of age
  2. Complete a substitute training class with Northwest GA RESA (see list below for exemptions). Please visit www.nwgaresa.com for a complete list of classes.
  3. Complete and submit the online substitute application including ALL required documents.
  4. Approved applicants must be fingerprinted and have an approved criminal history check on file prior to being authorized to begin any work assignment in the school system. The fingerprinting process is conducted by appointment only.

Exceptions for the substitute training class:

  • Certified teachers (including those with an expired certificate)
  • Former paraprofessionals or former substitutes
Cartersville City Schools  2026 - 27 SUBSTITUTE PAY RATES REGULAR SUBSTITUTE TEACHER PAY RANK EDUCATION Hourly Rate 1 Possession of a valid or expired professional teaching certificate (or letter of eligibility for the same) based on a baccalaureate degree or higher or any training or degree post high school OR any postsecondary training OR HS Diploma/GED $15.00 SUPPLY TEACHER (LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE) RANK EDUCATION Hourly Rate 2 A supply teaching position (long term assignment) is one in which the assignment is for the same classroom assignment for 10 or more consecutive school days.  Possession of a valid or expired in-field teaching certificate (or letter of eligibility for the same) based on a baccalaureate degree or higher is necessary for assignments lasting beyond 20 consecutive days in the same classroom. $21.00
