Position Overview

The Healthy Wave Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team in a full-time remote capacity. This position offers the flexibility of telehealth services, allowing you to provide essential care to clients from the comfort of their homes. This position will primarily utilize a remote telehealth setting. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations through preliminary interviews, accurately documenting case details from initial consultation through treatment completion.
  • Assess and evaluate clientsโ€™ mental, emotional, and behavioral health using contemporary diagnostic tools.
  • Design individualized treatment and recovery plans that address the specific needs of individuals, couples, families, and groups.
  • Facilitate engaging and therapeutically effective individual and group therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based practices.
  • Monitor client progress closely, adapting treatment plans as necessary to ensure the best outcomes.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team comprising psychologists, psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals to enhance treatment efficacy.
  • Provide follow-up care for clients transitioning to or from hospitalization, coordinating with attending physicians and psychiatric staff.
  • Identify potential barriers to recovery, proactively developing solutions to prevent setbacks.
  • Support and educate family members and primary caregivers to encourage positive engagement with clients having mental health challenges.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our counseling center serves a diverse population, including children, adolescents, adults, and families facing various mental health challenges. We address disorders such as anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and other behavioral issues. By focusing on a culturally sensitive approach, we ensure that our interventions are relevant and effective for each unique situation.

Qualifications
  • Master's or Doctoral Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current, valid licensure as an LMFT, LCPC, or LCSW in the state of Illinois.
  • A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
  • Demonstrated experience as a mental health counselor with proven clinical skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, specifically AVATAR or similar platforms.
  • Comprehensive understanding of co-occurring physical and emotional health conditions, particularly in addiction medicine.
  • Knowledge of best practices as advised by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, allowing for effective documentation and client interaction.
  • A strong, empathetic disposition, and exceptional interpersonal skills are essential for building trust with clients.
