Job description

Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Imaging Manager, this position is responsible for the operation of Radiology Services to the Inpatient and Outpatient Departments at Renown. This position performs complex exams as part of the diagnostic team.
This position is responsible for all radiographic functions including coordinating the specialized equipment, calculating technical factors, radiation safety, maintenance of equipment, quality assurance, film processing and maintaining adequate inventory. The incumbent provides radiology services to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Nature and Scope
The incumbent is required to perform diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic radiographic procedures of the human body utilizing radiographic principles according to the guidelines recommended by Merrill's Anatomy and Positioning reference manual. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based upon physical, motor/sensory, psychosocial, and safety appropriate to the age of the patient served. The incumbent must provide optimal patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of neonatal, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and families
The incumbent must competently operate imaging equipment and related machinery, verify and execute physician's orders for diagnostic and therapeutic exams while ensuring the proper preparation for such exams, and the safety and well being of patients during procedures. Incumbent will determine the best method of obtaining optimal examinations while ensuring patient safety; will regulate patient flow, and consults with Radiologists to determine contrast quality and makes necessary corrections to improve image quality. Will utilize radiographic principles according to the guidelines recommended by Merrill's Anataomy and Positioning reference manual and Renown Regional Medical Center Diagnostic Radiographic Department Policy and Procedure Manual.
Other duties include, but are not limited to, billing, supplies stocking, file maintenance, medical charting, informed consent documentation, quality improvement studies, patient history/symptoms acquisition. May be required to assist other modalities within the department of Renown Health System.
This position does provide patient care.

Education:
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English.
Experience:
Preference will be given to applicants with an Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or completion of an AMA approved hospital-based program.
License(s):
State of Nevada license for Medical Radiography.
Certification(s):
Must obtain American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) certification within one (1) year of employment, with the exception of 530264. 530264 does not require ARRT certification. AHA BLS certification within sixty (60) days of employment.
Computer / Typing:
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
