Job description

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Project Landscape Architect in the posting locations below. In this role, you will have the responsibility for designing and executing landscape architecture projects, both public and private sector, from concept through construction documents. The PLA must understand and keep an eye on the big picture, while simultaneously being entrenched in the details. The success of a project relies on the clarity, completeness, accuracy, and overall quality of our project documents.

What You'll Do:
  • Assist with development of proposals
  • Lead and participate in client, contractor and project team meetings
  • Determine the feasibility of projects based on the analysis of collected data
  • Prepare conceptual sketches, technical drawings, and presentation materials
  • Present ideas and solutions to clients
  • Develop project budgets
  • Plan, design, and provide bidding assistance and construction observation/administration of landscape architecture projects
  • Prepare estimates of probable construction costs for site and landscape-related work
  • Write and review reports, feasibility studies, project manuals and technical specifications
  • Manage multiple projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines; minimize write-offs by keeping projects on budget
  • Delegates and/or supervises the work of other landscape architecture team members on his/her projects

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program
  • Professional Landscape Architect (PLA)
  • 8+ years of related professional experience
  • ISA Certified Arborist a plus
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Capability to self-motivate and work productively without supervision required
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and organizational skills required
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit all levels of personnel and management
  • Desire to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Responsible for providing work that is accurate, complete and timely
  • Travel as needed to project sites
