Job description

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to support a high-precision manufacturing operation in the San Jose area. This position will be responsible for developing, proving out, troubleshooting, and optimizing CNC programs for complex, tight-tolerance components.The ideal candidate will have a strong machining foundation and programming experience across CNC milling and/or turning, with particular interest in candidates experienced with 5-axis milling, multi-axis turning, or mill-turn applications.

Shift: 1st Shift

Compensation: Competitive, market-rate compensation based on experience and technical capabilities. Specific compensation will be discussed during the interview process.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, proof, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC programs for complex precision components.
  • Program CNC mills and/or lathes, including advanced 5-axis, multi-axis, and mill-turn applications.
  • Develop machining strategies from engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements.
  • Utilize CAM software such as Mastercam, Siemens NX, Fusion 360, or similar platforms.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of G-code and make programming adjustments as needed.
  • Determine appropriate tooling, workholding, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies.
  • Simulate and verify programs for toolpath accuracy, collision avoidance, and efficient machine operation.
  • Work directly with machinists and setup personnel during prove-outs, machine setups, and first article runs.
  • Troubleshoot programming, tooling, workholding, dimensional, and machining issues on the shop floor.
  • Optimize programs and processes to improve cycle time, setup efficiency, tool life, repeatability, and scrap rates.
  • Maintain programming documentation, tooling information, setup documentation, and revision history.
  • Partner with engineering and quality teams to ensure finished components meet customer specifications.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of CNC machining/programming experience in a production environment.
  • Strong CNC programming experience with mills, lathes, or both.
  • Experience with 5-axis milling, multi-axis lathes, and/or mill-turn equipment is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Mastercam, Siemens NX, Fusion 360, or comparable CAM software.
  • Strong understanding of G-code programming.
  • Ability to interpret complex blueprints, CAD models, tolerances, and GD&T.
  • Strong understanding of tooling, workholding, speeds and feeds, and machining best practices.
  • Experience producing complex, tight-tolerance components.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems directly at the machine and work closely with machinists during prove-out and production.
