ย Telluride School District is looking for substitutes, including on call, part time, long term, and permanent substitutes.
ย 

Daily Substitute Long-Term ย  Year CO Sub License only Other CO Teaching License TDP Substitute Other CO Teaching License (case-by-case) 2025-2026 $160 $180 $180 $292.00 $15/day bonus for at least 30 days worked during current year Long Term Sub = 15 days or more days commitment for one teacher

SUMMARY
Substitute "Guest Teachers" implementย student daily instructional plans in the absence of the classroom teacher with the following:ย 
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of the District curriculum and goals in an effective manner, ensuring a safe classroom environment, proper classroom management, and maintaining reasonable ruies of conduct encouraging self-disciplince and responsibility.ย 
Serves as a positive role model for students, demonstrating professionalism that includes a postiive attitude, postiive and respectful communication, and professional appearance.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reports to the main office for room assignment upon arrival and checks out in the main office at the end of the day
  • Arrives at building (according to the school work day/ hours) with enough time to check in, review substitute plans, and be prepared for the day when the students enter the classroom
  • Implements the instructional plans prepared by the teacher
  • Clearly communicates expectations and adapts to individual learning needs, providing individual and small group instruction
  • Follows all necessary and reasonable safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
  • Provides feedback to the teacher regarding instruction, discipline and other events of the day
  • Maintains a professional and positive rapport wiht parents/ co-workers/ administration
  • Licensed substitutes may sub forย teachers and paraeducators
  • Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE/ KNOWLEDGE

  • Ability toย  effectively present information and respond to questions from administration, parents, students and staff members
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment and implement effective classroom management skills
  • Ability to follow directions left by classroom teacher
  • Ability to think on their feet and work in a collaborative manner to engage children and manage behaviors in the classroom
  • Caring person who wants to see the youth of the day challenged and provided unique opportunities for growth and learning
  • Life experiences that can lend themselves to educating our children.

  • Ability to follow all policies, rules and procedures to which regulatr teachers are subject

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred

COMPENSATION


  • $160/day for non-certified teacher subs holding a validย  Colorado Substitute Teaching authorization
  • $180/day for certified teacher subs holding a valid Teaching License or a Five Year Substitute Teacher authorization which is only available to prior certified teachers.
  • Additionally, any substitute will get a $15/ day supplement starting on their 31stย day subbing in a given school year and for the remainder of that year.

BENEFITS
All school district employees, including substitutes, pay into PERA (Public Employees Retirement Association) instead of social security.ย ย The Telluride School District also contributes 21.4% into PERA on your behalf.
The more you work, the better it gets.ย ย 
Employees earnย one monthย of PERA service credit for each month that they earn a minimum salary of $580.ย  ย
