Job description

POSITION PURPOSE

A Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise IT systems infrastructure across the organization. This role centers on Microsoft-based platforms and related enterprise technologies, with a focus on ensuring system reliability, security, and scalability. The Network Engineer will apply deep technical knowledge, strong communication skills, and proven problem-solving capabilities while architecting, deploying, supporting, and documenting systems that align with business objectives and industry best practices.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

Bachelor’s Degree in: Computer Sciences, Information Technology or equivalent work experience.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in systems engineering or administration within enterprise environments.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and technical problem-solving abilities, including effective knowledge transfer.
  • Familiarity with multiple operating systems and enterprise platforms.
  • Expertise with Microsoft server and cloud technologies, including:
    • Windows Server (2019/2022/2025): deployment, configuration, patching, hardening, and lifecycle management.
    • Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD): identity lifecycle management, Conditional Access, identity governance, SSO, MFA, hybrid identity, and application integration.
    • Active Directory and Group Policy: design, administration, and troubleshooting.
    • Microsoft 365 administration: Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Intune/Endpoint Manager.
  • Proficiency in systems automation and scripting to streamline administration and reduce manual workload.
  • Experience with enterprise virtualization platforms, e.g. VCF.
  • Knowledge of enterprise storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, and backup/recovery solutions.
  • Experience Work within monitoring tools and ITSM platforms (e.g., SolarWinds Asset Monitoring, Azure Monitor, ServiceNow, ServiceDesk).
  • Understanding of enterprise security principles, including endpoint protection, patch management, vulnerability remediation, and compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and continuously improve documentation, runbooks, and architectural diagrams for all managed systems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams including networking, security, and application teams.
  • Ability to lead, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Create system architecture diagrams, Knowledgebase articles and associated documentation of assigned systems.
  • Experience working within an ITSM/ServiceDesk ticketing platform to log, track, and resolve incidents and service requests.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Design, implement, and maintain Microsoft-based server infrastructure, including Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS/DHCP services.
  • Manage and support identity and access management solutions, including:
    • Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) administration and user lifecycle management.
    • Conditional Access policy design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance.
    • MFA enrollment, SSO configuration, and identity governance workflows.
    • Hybrid identity management using Azure AD Connect and cloud sync.
  • Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Intune/Endpoint Manager to support end-user productivity and security.
  • Monitor, tune, and maintain enterprise virtualization platforms (VCF) and associated storage systems (SAN, NAS).
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and automation workflows to reduce manual effort, enforce consistency, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Perform routine system patching, hardening, and lifecycle management activities in compliance with organizational security policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve systems and identity-related incidents within established service level agreements.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing, ensuring backup solutions are current, validated, and aligned with recovery time objectives.
  • Collaborate with networking, security, and application teams to ensure seamless integration across all systems and platforms.
  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive documentation for all implemented systems, including runbooks, standard operating procedures, and architectural diagrams.
  • Evaluate emerging Microsoft and enterprise technologies to recommend improvements to current systems and architecture.
  • Log, track, prioritize, and resolve all assigned incidents and service requests within the ServiceDesk ticketing system.
