Job description

Rockhurst is seeking an MSN Clinical Instructor. Rockhurst University is a welcoming and inclusive private Catholic, Jesuit institution with a strong mission aligned with the core values of nursing. The School of Nursing is in one of two academic schools housed in NHS. The School of Nursing offers bachelor's and master's level nursing degree programs. The School of Health Sciences includes Communication Sciences and Disorders, Exercise Science, Health Science, Medical Assisting, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy. Nursing is known for its innovative teaching using a broad range of active learning experiences, close faculty-student interactions, and our strong mission focused on service, advocacy, and leadership. The faculty have established close relationships with many community partners, enabling community-based service learning for students and clinical practice opportunities for students and faculty. Qualifications:
  • Currently Practicing as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Minimum of two years of working experience as a licensed NP required (graduate school experience does not apply) required
  • Board Certified Nurse Practitioner, unencumbered license required
  • Clinical teaching experience preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication, leadership, team, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and assist students in achieving their academic goals
  • Significant experience in a clinical setting.
  • 1-2 years prior teaching experience in higher education preferred.
  • Evidence of commitment to the nursing profession, with a focus on nursing education.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team professionally and confidentially.
  • Experience using Canvas or other relevant online course delivery platforms preferred

Overall Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Specific job duties will be outlined in the contract

Clinical assignment:
  • Evaluate student achievement of course objectives and submit grades
  • Educate students by effectively and proficiently using online technology and practicum environments so that knowledge, information, feedback, clinical evaluation, and critique are imparted to and shared with students in thoughtful, carefully formulated, well-written, and timely methods
  • Participate in an on-campus Immersion student skills experience 2-3 days a semester.
  • Adheres to nursing education accreditation standards, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinates with other faculty, and others, as indicated, on course implementation.
  • Submits student progress reports to the course lead, Program Director, and Advisor and discusses any student needs that may require directed attention or remediation plans.
  • Completes all required course reports within two weeks of semester end.

  • Represents the college locally, regionally, or nationally with professional presentations related to teaching and learning.
  • Maintains clinical competence and any requirements for Rockhurst University employment.
  • Obtains or maintains professional licensure, certifications, degrees, and other specialty credentials.
  • Demonstrates effective role modeling of collegiality by working in inter-professional teams.
