Job Summary
Concord University's Department of Mathematics and Computer Science invites applications for adjunct faculty positions in Mathematics.
Adjunct instructors will teach introductory mathematics courses-including Quantitative Reasoning, College Algebra, and Elementary Statistics, as well as associated corequisite support sections. Courses may be offered in person on Concord University's main campus in Athens, WV, and/or online, depending on departmental needs..
Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to high-quality undergraduate instruction, support for student success in foundational mathematics, and alignment with Concord University's mission of fostering academic excellence and a supportive learning environment.
Applicants must hold a master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duty/Responsibility
To perform this role successfully, an individual should be able to:
- Prepare and deliver instruction in introductory mathematics courses in alignment with the established course map, in both in-person and online formats.
- Develop and maintain course materials, including syllabi, assignments, and supplemental instructional resources.
- Assess student learning through assignments, tests, and other evaluations, grading fairly and consistently, and providing timely feedback to support student progress.
- Contribute to General Education Assessment by collecting, documenting, and reporting required course data.
- Maintain regular office hours to provide academic support, assist with course-related questions, and contribute to student recruitment and retention efforts.
- Keep accurate records of attendance, grades, and other required documentation in compliance with federal FERPA regulations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Department Chair or Dean.
