Job description

Are you good at math or statistics? Are you willing to work with other students to help them understand it or to assist faculty with the homework for their class? Then consider working in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics as a one-on-one or online math tutor or grader.
This is a student job position - you must be a student at the University of Alaska in good standing taking a minimum of 6 credits for the Fall and/or Spring semester to apply for and work in this position.
Join the Department of Mathematics and Statistics as a math tutor or grader. Tutors will work one-on-one or online assisting students who request help with their math or statistics course work. Graders will work directly with faculty to assist with grading student assignments in specific courses. To thrive in this role, some tutoring or mentoring experience is preferred. Coursework in statistics and/or upper-level math and experience with computer-based math programs are also preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
Tutors must have a 3.0 GPA in STEM-based coursework.
Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and using written methods.
Must be able to complete UA Tier 1 Required Trainings within 2 weeks of hiring date.
Must be able to log hours daily in TracCloud and log hours during each pay period in UA Online.
Position Details:
This position is located on the Troth Yeddha campus in Fairbanks. This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year. Pay starts at $17.29/hr and for up to 20 hours per week. This is a part-time, non-benefited position only open to current UA students taking a minimum of 6 credits.
