Qualifications:
- Amaster's degree in construction managementor a closely related field (such as civil engineering, architecture, construction science, building engineering, orfacilitiesmanagement) isrequired. An earneddoctorate is preferred. Atleast threeyears ofprofessionalexperiencein construction management, facilities management, project engineering,or relatedfieldsisrequired. Industry leadership or supervisory experience as well as previousuniversity-level teaching experience are highly desirable.Candidates shoulddemonstratethe ability to teach effectively in a multicultural environment and mentor students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.
- As an educational institution affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Church), BYU-Hawaii prefers to hire qualified members of the Church in good standing, as authorized under 41 C.F.R. 60-1.5(a)(6). To be eligible for employment, applicantswho are members of the Church must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend and receive a clearance from the Church's Ecclesiastical Clearance Office.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching requirement is typically 30 semester credit hours per year over three semesters in some (but not all) of the following subject areas/courses:
- Construction methods, materials, and building systems
- Construction documents, plan reading, and specifications
- Project planning, preconstruction, estimating, and procurement
- Construction and facilities project management
- Building operations and facilities management
- Construction safety,OSHAstandards, and risk management
- Sustainable construction and building practices
- Leadership, teamwork,andprofessional communication
- Emerging technologies in construction,including Building Information Modeling (BIM),
Bluebeam,artificialintelligence(AI), and relateddigitaltools
- Scholarship, creative endeavor, ongoing professional development, and university service are required.
- BYU-Hawaii's primary focus is undergraduate learning and teaching. The individual should be fully committed to the university's mission (https://about.byuh.edu/mission.html) and learning framework (https://clt.byuh.edu/framework-for-learning).
Benefits:
- Salary range: 115K to 131K, depending on credentials (highest degree earned), rank and experience.
