Job description

Located in sunny Miami, Florida, St. Thomas University is a private, non-profit university that offers 39 undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate degrees. 

The Mathematics Department invites applications from individuals with a commitment to excellence in teaching students from diverse backgrounds.

We are currently seeking Adjunct Instructors to teach a variety of undergraduate courses for the Fall 2026 semester, including College Algebra, Pre-Calculus & Trigonometry, Calculus and Statistics. Teaching assignments are for daytime and evening classes, in person at the Miami Gardens campus.

Essential Functions/Duties: 

General Education mathematics courses are coordinated across sections, with all instructors following a common syllabus, pacing, learning outcomes, and assessment structure. Adjunct faculty are expected to:


•    Prepare course materials and deliver engaging instruction
•    Promote student engagement and active participation in class
•    Teach effectively in an iPad-supported classroom environment, integrating digital resources and annotation tools where appropriate
•    Monitor attendance and student progress
•    Maintain accurate records and submit grades in a timely manner
•    Use departmental courseware and technology platforms (including ALEKS 360 for General Education mathematics courses beginning Fall 2026)
•    Support a collaborative and student-centered learning environment

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, or closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Mathematics is required.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled. The Math Department has a need for an adjunct instructor for Spring 2026  (start date January 12). 

Preference will be given to candidates who have a Master's or PhD in Statistics, or who have experience teaching introductory college-level statistics courses.
