Position Summary:

FVI School of Nursing and Technology is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Adjunct Instructor to teach in our Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction to students in classroom, lab, and clinical settings, preparing them for success as EMTs and paramedics. This position is ideal for EMS professionals passionate about education, mentoring, and community impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective instruction in EMS courses according to established curriculum and learning objectives.
  • Teach in classroom, lab, and/or clinical environments as assigned.
  • Assess student learning and performance through assignments, exams, skills check-offs, and practical evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with state and national EMS education standards (e.g., NREMT, CoAEMSP).
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
  • Participate in program meetings, training, and professional development as required.
  • Stay current with EMS practices, protocols, and instructional strategies.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current certification/licensure as a State of Florida Paramedic.
  • Associate's degree in a health-related field (bachelor's degree preferred).
  • State of Florida EMS Level A & B certifications.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support Provider and Instructor certifications.
  • Minimum of 4 years of field experience as a Paramedic.
  • Prior teaching or training experience preferred (especially in EMS education).
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with simulation-based instruction and assessment.
  • Familiarity with online or hybrid learning platforms (e.g., Canvas, Moodle).
  • Knowledge of CoAEMSP accreditation standards and documentation.

Working Conditions:

  • Flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, depending on class schedule.
  • Teaching assignments may include in-person labs, simulations, or clinical rotations.
