Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for an Online Learning and Design Advisor to join the Learning Technologies team. Apply today to join our team!  

As an Online Learning and Design Advisor with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Be responsible for planning, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating education programs and training modules using educational theory and a variety of learning modalities.
  • Work in a team environment of learning technology advisors and learning materials designers, as well as with key stakeholders (educators, managers, staff, and contractors throughout the health authority) and clients to assess, design, develop, test, and implement quality online and blended learning courses.
  • Be responsible for editing educational materials and providing consultation on educational content for an online/e-learning environment.
  • Support strategic planning initiatives through needs analysis, performance analysis, competency assessment, problem solving, change management, education and training, group facilitation, and project management.
  • Collaborate with other team members to promote and advance the development of online learning at Vancouver Coastal Health, as well as to refine, utilize, and enhance learning management programming and systems to better achieve department goals and objectives.

Education & Experience

  • Master’s Degree in a related field (education, distance education, instructional design, Health Administration).
  • Five (5) years of recent, related experience in instructional design and people development or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Affiliation with an appropriate professional association is desirable.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Applies comprehensive knowledge and skill in educational theory, research, technology, and related best practices. As well as has an understanding of health care disciplines and networking abilities to support and enhance educational practices.
  • Uses superior group facilitation, team building, negotiating, conflict resolution skills, and an interactive teaching style to engage learners with a variety of different learning styles, and facilitate critical thinking and problem resolution.
  • Fosters creativity and innovation in strategic planning involving learning and development and in the development of teaching and learning strategies.
  • Multi-media development skills –Articulate Storyline, Captivate, and rapid development software. Video and photography experience would be nice to have
  • Proficient with Articulate Storyline.
  • Experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS) preferably Moodle.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Proven ability to develop engaging and effective training programs.
  • Instructional design experience.
  • End-to-end course development experience.
  • Displays comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and methodologies, and ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
  • Applies superior written communication abilities and proficient computer skills in the design and composition of creative high quality, interactive learning materials.
  • Superior process design applied in the design and development of learning and development initiatives.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
