Job description

The News Photographer operates television or video cameras to record images or scenes for news reports.
• Cover general news assignments in a fast-paced newsgathering environment, utilizing electronic video camera, cell phone, editing equipment, and other equipment that may be relevant to a story
• Strong understanding of various media formats and camera equipment
• Operate live ENG remote newsgathering equipment
• Ability to work overtime, extra hours
• Ability to work several different shifts
• Ability to work in all types of weather conditions
• Ability to be available in the event of breaking news
• Ability to respond quickly to breaking news
  • Requirements & Skills:
  • Fluency in English
  • High School diploma
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Minimum two years' experience operating video recording equipment (More for larger markets and less for smaller markets)
  • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
  • Proficiency with video recording equipment
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Flexibility to work any shift

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Willingness to cross-train in other areas of news operations as needed
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and irregular hours as job requires
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs of equipment
  • Clean motor vehicle record, ability to drive, proof of insurance

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • College degree preferred
  • Online link to work samples, including videography and editing preferably in a news setting
  • No still photography
