Job description

Our client is a leader in business intelligence and analytics. Their software provides one integrated process for analyzing data from every source and gaining the predictive power to drive change at every level. You will provide programming and analysis expertise for applications on multiple projects concurrently. You’ll interact with other consultants, group managers and with external customers.

Travel requirement is up to 25%.

You will:

Understand and translate client’s business requirements into workable technical solutions.

  • Participate in application design and architecture.
  • Plan and develop core application components, with an emphasis on BI and ETL.
  • May write new or revised programs using techniques such as: Web, SCL, Frames, Object Oriented Techniques, or data management as applicable.
  • Install and configure technology and solutions.
  • Complete all levels of application testing and q/a.
  • Prepare all required documentation (specifications, design, system, training, user).
  • Install and configure our client’s software as required.
  • Ensure up-to-date knowledge in industry business and technology solutions, through self‑motivated approach to continuous learning.
  • Provide presentations, internally and/or with clients, as required.
  • Mentor other consultants as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
You have:
  • Minimum 3 years applications development consulting experience with external clients, in competitive situations (independent software vendor company or Big4 consulting).
  • Knowledge of and experience with:
    • Databases including one or more: Oracle, DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, Informix, Sybase
    • a breadth of operating systems (Windows, Unix, Linux, mainframe) and platforms (IBM, Sun, HP, Windows)
    • client server, and multi‑tier environments
    • connectivity issues and protocols
    • job scheduling and event/exception management
    • security, file systems, and common network practices
    • one or more of:
      • BEA Weblogic, Websphere, J2EE, web development
    • metadata management and XML
    • ETL software (any flavour such as Informatica, AbInitio, etc)
  • Proficiency in SQL and Java.
  • Data Warehouse/Mart knowledge and experience is preferred, including knowledge of common industry approaches including star schema and ‘corporate information factory’.
  • Knowledge of Unix shell scripting.
  • Experience with BI products and tools (e.g., Cognos, Hyperion, SAS, Business Objects, Information Builders, MicroStrategy, CRM, etc).
  • Demonstrated excellent problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
