Their role is to make the insurance process more accessible, convenient, and efficient for clients by leveraging technology and digital communication.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an online insurance agent?

To excel as an Online Insurance Agent, you need a solid grasp of insurance products, strong sales abilities, and typically a state-issued insurance license. Location: Rome, GA (601 E 1st St)

Position Type: Full-Time / In-Person

Target Earnings: $60,000 – $70,000+ Annually (Base Salary + Uncapped Commission & Bonuses)

About Our Agency

At the Ben McWhorter Agency, we pride ourselves on protecting families, farms, and businesses throughout Rome and neighboring communities across Floyd, Bartow, Gordon, Polk, and Chattooga counties. We operate with a service-first mindset, deep community roots, and high standards of integrity.

We are seeking a driven, self-motivated Licensed Insurance Agent who wants more than just a typical sales job. This role includes a defined 2 to 3-year roadmap to agency ownership, giving you the hands-on mentorship and operational playbook needed to eventually run your own agency.

The Opportunity & Path to Ownership

  • Year 1 | Mastery & Production ($60k–$70k Target): Master Property & Casualty (P&C) and Life & Health (L&H) products. Drive outbound lead conversion, policy production, and client risk management.
  • Year 2 | Operations & Retention: Expand your role into client retention, cross-selling strategies, underwriting processes, and agency financial management.
  • Year 3 | Agency Transition: Work alongside leadership to prepare for running your own location—backed by the strength and reputation of Alfa Insurance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • New Business Production: Proactively prospect, follow up on warm leads, and leverage community networking to write new Auto, Home, Life, Farm, Commercial, and Health policies.
  • Client Consultation: Conduct thorough risk assessments for local families and commercial clients to build tailored coverage packages.
  • Account Management: Build lasting relationships with clients in Rome and surrounding areas, keeping retention high through excellent ongoing service.
  • Leadership Development: Shadow Agency Principal Ben McWhorter to learn the behind-the-scenes mechanics of running a profitable insurance practice.

Qualifications

  • Licensing: Active Georgia Property & Casualty (P&C) and/or Life & Health (L&H) licenses required (or the ability to pass state licensing exams within 30 days of offer).
  • Drive & Motivation: Entrepreneurial spirit with a strong desire to build a career, not just clock hours.
  • Experience: 1–3 years in sales, account management, or customer-facing roles (insurance background preferred, but sales drive and coachability matter most).
  • Community Focus: Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to serve the Rome, GA community.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Target Earnings: $60,000 – $70,000+ per year (Competitive Base + Uncapped Commission & Performance Bonuses)
  • Direct 1-on-1 mentorship from an established Alfa Insurance Agent
  • Access to agency-provided leads, modern CRM tools, and marketing resources
  • Clear, transparent performance milestones toward running your own agency
