Reports To: Program Manager
Positions Supervised: None
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Amount of Local travel: 0%
Work Schedule: 8 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, between 2:30pm and 6:00 pm (determined with manager based on availability).

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Literacy & Math Tutor is responsible for teaching and helping scholars with their reading and math.

Essential Functions Statement(s):

      1. Responsible for assigned programming areas as directed:
        • Teaches literacy & math skills to scholars in small groups or individually as needed.
        • Teaches scholars how to comprehend literacy & math coursework, complete homework and prepare for literacy & math tests (both local and standardized assessments).
        • Demonstrates literacy & math concepts in a variety of ways.
        • Provides tips for studying and practice skills to help develop mastery of material.
        • Assists scholars with literacy & math lessons and assessments using Stride Academy, an online platform.
        • Provide support to families by sharing literacy & math tools to build at-home support in literacy.
      2. Cooperative Team Participation:
        • Upholds company rules, procedures and policies.
        • Holds oneself and others accountable to their commitments.
        • Remains open to giving and receiving constructive feedback.
      3. Advances the Organization’s professional image.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, social work or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • Previous K-12 teaching experience preferred.
  • Previous experience working with youth required.
  • Previous experience providing math support in a K-12 setting.

Technical Skills:

  • Literacy knowledge.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Flexibility regarding work location, as ODA is obligated to assign based on the needs of the campuses.
