Job description

Title: Athletic Coach 6th Grade Girls Basketballย 

Work Location:ย Ramah Elementary
Contract Length: Winter Sport

Minimum Salary: $2,500.00

Maximum Salary: $2,500.00

ATHLETIC COACHING LICENSE,ย  7-12
High School Diploma or Equivalencyย ย 
AND
Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (https://webnew.ped.state.nm.us/bureaus/licensure/how-to-apply/athletic-coach-7-12/)
from the New Mexico Public Education Department as well as completing the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association. (www.nmact.org)ย 
QUALIFICATIONS:ย 
1. Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.ย 
2. Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport. (Major sports)ย 
3. The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sportย 
and, at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent toย 
the field.ย 
4. The head coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes throughย 
his/her instructions and actions.ย 
REPORTS TO: The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation inย 
conjunction with the high school principals.


















WORK ENVIRONMENT: On-site attendance is mandatory for this position.ย 
SUPERVISES: In several instances, the head coach must advise, coordinate and support a staff ofย 
high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with theย 
athletic director and respective principal.ย 
JOB GOAL: To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical trainingย 
necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the sameย 
time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to sociallyย 
acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride ofย 
accomplishment in the student athletes. To upgrade his/her knowledge and skillsย 
through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.ย 
Work with students interested in sports, provide necessary practice support and advice for a team to be successful against opposing teams in a sports season. Teach and enforce rules and regulations. Involves work on evenings and weekends.
