Job Summary
The Student Assistant will support the Library as a Learning Commons Assistant on the Armstrong Campus beginning Fall 2026.
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period
Responsibilities
  • Assists students with technology-related questions
  • Checks out items such as laptops, iPads, drawing tablets, board games, and other items in the Learning Commons
  • Reserves study rooms for students
  • Maintains printers with ink and paper
  • Assists with events and programs
  • Documents patron interactions onto LibAnswers (the Libraries' data collection tool)

Shift Specifics
  • Up to 15 hours per week
  • Flexible with schedule of availability
  • Must be flexible and available to work/cover shifts as needed, including weekends
  • Must be available for at least one weekly closing shift (until 12 AM) and willing to cover additional closings when necessary

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
  • Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience troubleshooting technology
  • Prior professional experience in a library setting

Proposed Salary
$10.00 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
