Located just outside of Seattle, WA, Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949, and is the only public institute of technology in Washington State, that provides students with the latest cutting edge skills relevant to today's workplace. Lake Washington Institute of Technology is seeking qualified part time instructors to teach in the Computer Security and Network Technology Program. All instructor positions require a minimum of two years of industry experience; college teaching experience and industry certifications are preferred.

This recruitment is for a part-time vacancy in Winter 2025. The courses are scheduled for Monday - Thursday 6:00 pm to 8:50 pm. The courses to be taught are:
  • CSNT 115 A+ Software Essentials
  • CSNT 116 A+ Hardware

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Plan and develop a variety of instruction objectives and experiences appropriate to the program goals
  • Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments
  • Develop and teach to the objectives of the approved curriculum
  • Develop and teach lessons which foster and support cultural diversity and non-discrimination
  • Teach productive and constructive study skills to students
  • Develop classroom and lab procedures in conformance with identified policies and procedures
  • Maintain appropriate records which indicate student progress and meet college requirements
  • Follow disciplinary procedures as prescribed and deal consistently and fairly with all students
  • Design learning experiences for the unique characteristics of individual adult students through classes, individual instruction and self-directed learning
  • Post the class syllabus and students' grades via the online course system (currently Canvas)

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2 or more years current, directly-related computer and network work experience
  • CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA desirable
  • Network equipment CLI experience required
  • Strong understanding of the TCP/IP protocol suite and subnetting
  • College teaching experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have sensitivity and ability to successfully interat withdiverse populations
  • Due to diveristy of the college population, we encourage applicants who are multilingual
  • Previous experience with an online course system (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Sakai, Moodle) preferred

Compensation
Placement on the faculty salary schedule is based on an individual assessment of education and experience. The salary for part time faculty contracts shall be based upon the number of credits assigned the faculty member, the type of class taught, and the rates contained in the part time faculty salary schedule currently in effect and labeled Appendix B.

A part time faculty member becomes eligible for benefits at the beginning of the second consecutive quarter of half time or more of in-class teaching at one or more Washington state institutions of higher education. Spring and fall quarters are considered consecutive quarters for benefits eligibility. Half time is determined based on each institution's definition of full time. A part time faculty member must qualify each quarter they teach to maintain eligibility. Once eligible, part time faculty will be notified of their benefit and retirement options. Sick leave accrues at 1 day (Prorated based on % of FTE) per month.
