Certified Nurse Aid Instructor

JOB SUMMARY: The Certified Nurse Aid Instructor is responsible for preparing and delivering didactic and practical clinical/lab education for certified nurse aide students.

JOB SPECIFIC CORE COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrates being a content expert in IDOH NAT curriculum.
  • Able to independently prepare, teach, and evaluate students in didactic, lab and clinical aspects of the certified nurse aide training curriculum.
  • Maintains AHA certifications as provider and instructor for disciplines taught.
  • Able to independently prepare, teach, and evaluate AHA courses.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Certified Nurse Aide Instructor is:

  • Responsible for developing lessons and classroom experiences for the Certified Nurse Aide Training program in conjunction with the approved curriculum published by the Indiana State Department of Health (IDOT).
  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with course objectives.
  • Responsible for developing/maintaining course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Responsible for maintaining accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Instructs students in didactic, lab, and clinical settings.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Hancock Health.
  • Shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.

EXPECTED BEHAVIORS:

  • Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, comply with institutional policies, guidelines, and expectations.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time is required.
  • Ability to handle high stress situations as they occur.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • RN/LPN in good standing in the state of Indiana
  • Minimum of one year of licensed nursing experience
  • Completed the Indiana Department of Health Train-the-Trainer course
  • AHA BLS Provider and Instructor
  • One of the following:
    • Completed the required state training session including adult learning theory
    • Holds a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education in any Health Science

ADDITIONAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Mandatory Continuing Education: Customer Service, Fire and Safety, Corporate Compliance (including Confidentiality), Infection Control, and education required by regulatory, accreditation bodies, scope of practice, and/or Hancock Regional Hospital.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS :

  • Lift to 20 lbs. independently and for weights greater than 20lbs must use mechanical device or team lifting.
  • Sit to and from, stand at office chair.
  • Standing up to 1/3 of day and walking more than 2/3 of day
  • Vision requirements include but are not limited to close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. This may include ability to read thermometers, electronic scales, etc.

EQUIPMENT USED : Computer, copier/printer, fax, shredder, multi-line telephone, calculator, projector, laptop computer, iPad, vehicle.
