Description General Description: Adjunct Instructor, Paramedic is a position that is contracted on a per semester basis whose duties and responsibilities are established in accordance with Chapter 64J of the Florida Administrative Code and the Board of Trustees policies. This position is responsible for teaching various coursework in the EMS program, specifically the Paramedic courses. This position reports to the Director, Emergency Medical Services.

The program reports to the Dean of Nursing, Arts, Sciences, and Hospitality. Examples of Duties Essential Job Duties: 1. Plans, organizes and instructors assigned courses to promote student success.

2. Responsible for evaluating student learning and objective achievement and providing feedback. 3.

Selects appropriate materials and equipment for discipline or program use and ensures proper care and safety in their use. 4. Adheres to and enforces the administrative policies and procedures of the College.

5. Assists in implementing College policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with the College Mission Statement. 6.

Maintains good relationships with community agencies and groups. 7. Maintains student records, as required by College and State regulations.

8. Complies with the Department of Transportation, Florida EMS Statutes and Department of Transportation National Standards. 9.

Develops and revises course syllabi. 10. Works closely with agencies of Monroe County to better serve the needs of the EMS and Paramedic community.

11. Assists in all College recruitment & retention efforts as appropriate. 12.

Knowledge of College mission, policies, procedures, and services. Proficient in the use of technology. Qualifications Education and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, required.

Successfully completed the Levels A and B instructor coursework listed in Table I and Table II as identified in the National Guidelines for Educating EMS Instructors. Must have at least two years teaching experience in EMS education. Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations: Certified as a Florida Paramedic or licensed Registered Nurse, in good standing, with at least four years field level provider experience in the pre-hospital environment with an Advanced Life Support (ALS) provider required.

BLS Provider, required. ACLS Provider, preferred. Completed Instructor coursework as outlined in Chapter 64J-1.0201 of The Florida Administrative Code, required

Physical Skills: Lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 50 lbs. The ability to swim or float in water. Environmental Conditions: Works inside in an office environment.

Works in an outside environment for extended periods. Supplemental Information This is a part-time teaching assignment. Adjunct Instructors earn $543 - $727 per credit hour, based on degree level.
