Screening of applications will begin immediately and hiring will depend on the needs of School of Accountancy on a semester-by-semester basis. Adjunct instructors are engaged to teach classes on a class-by-class, semester-by-semester basis.

The following are required for your application to be complete and to be considered: 1) a cover letter that describes the candidate's qualifications for the position as detailed in this announcement and their area of teaching interest; 2) a current curriculum vitae; 3) evidence of teaching effectiveness, if applicable (e.g., a sample of recent, system-generated teaching evaluations); and 4) names and contact information for five professional references, at least three of whom can provide an evaluation of teaching or teaching potential.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in theUnited States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship. TheUniversity will not sponsor applicants for work visas (e.g., H-1B).

Job Summary
The School of Accountancy (SoA) in the College of Business and Economic Development (CBED), University of Southern Mississippi, invites applications for adjunct instructors to teach courses in accounting. Applicants should indicate in their cover letter their area of expertise and teaching interest (i.e. financial, managerial, auditing, tax, etc.).
Candidates may be asked to teach on the Hattiesburg or Gulf Park campus, in a remote delivery format, or online. Adjunct instructors are engaged to teach classes on a class-by-class, semester-by-semester basis.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities 

  1. Design and deliver courses coveringthe assigned content and topics.
  2. Communicate course requirements tostudents.
  3. Teach face-to-face, hybrid, andonline classes as needed.
  4. Be available to students enrolledin their class for support and course advising, including exams, requiredremediation, and summative evaluations.
  5. Be collaborative with other CBEDfaculty as well as the Director of the SoA to plan, implement, and evaluateeach course offering taught to maintain quality and effectiveness.
  6. Assign and evaluate assessmentsrequired for assurance of learning.
  7. Follow the policies and proceduresof the College of Business and Economic Development, the School of Accountancy,and the University of Southern Mississippi.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.
