Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Community Center Associate supports the daily operations of the Community Center by providing exceptional customer service, assisting with facility usage logistics, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, and supporting programs, events, and general administrative needs. This role serves as a frontline representative of the Community Center and ensures positive experiences for all members, visitors, and program participants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a welcoming point of contact for members, guests, and visitors, providing courteous and efficient customer service.
  • Register, member, guests, and program participants in accordance with established policies.
  • Process payments, memberships, waivers, permits, and reservations accurately using the recreation software system.
  • Educate users on Community Center rules and policies and help ensure they are followed in a professional manner.
  • Assist with opening and/or closing procedures as assigned.
  • Conduct routine facility walkthroughs to maintain cleanliness, safety, and readiness.
  • Open and/or close the facility following established protocols.
  • Provide front desk coverage, including participant check-in, membership assistance, phone inquiries, and general customer support.
  • Assist in fostering a friendly, inclusive, responsive environment for all guests.
  • Assist with room setups/breakdowns, basic A/V Support, and coordination for facility rentals.
  • Support community events, youth programs, senior activities, and special programming as needed.
  • Communicate issues, incidents, and operational updates to supervisory staff promptly.
  • Other duties are assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED

Experience:

  • 1-3 years in general customer service, or community center operations.

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

  • FBI Criminal History Clerance
  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance
  • PA State Police Criminal History Clearance
  • First Aid, CPR and AED Certification โ€“ within 6 months of hire.

JOB SCHEDULE

The Community Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. During the summer, the Center will close at 4:00 p.m. on Fridays.

Shifts are scheduled in 3โ€“4โ€‘hour blocks. For example, a typical weekday evening shift runs from 4:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Candidates must be available to work a minimum of 3 shifts per week, with the option to work up to 6 shifts per week.
