Job Summary
Essen Healthcare is seeking an experienced Director of Diagnostic Imaging Operations (Cardiac & Vascular) to lead and optimize cardiac and vascular imaging services across multiple outpatient sites. This is a hands-on, operational leadership role with direct accountability for accreditation, imaging systems, staffing stability, payroll accuracy, and clinical quality. The ideal candidate has a registered technologist background in cardiac and vascular imaging, strong experience in outpatient operations, and a proven track record managing IAC, ACR, and TJC accreditation, HL7 workflows, and multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
Accreditation & Compliance Serve as executive owner for diagnostic imaging accreditation:o IAC (Echo, Vascular, Nuclear as applicable)o ACR (CT/Nuclear as applicable)o The Joint Commission (TJC) Maintain continuous survey readiness and lead corrective action plans
Imaging Informatics & Systems Own end-to-end imaging workflows (order modality worklist report billing) Ensure HL7 and DICOM integrity; eliminate orphaned or lost studies Reduce interface-related errors and billing denials Collaborate with IT and vendors on system troubleshooting and upgrades
Staffing, Payroll & Operations Build and manage site- and modality-specific staffing models Oversee payroll accuracy, overtime controls, PTO planning, and coverage Lead and mentor technologists, supervisors, and lead techs Develop cross-trained float coverage where appropriate
Clinical Quality & Training Standardize onboarding and annual competency validation Enforce imaging protocols aligned with ASE, SVS, ASNC, and SCCT standards Reduce repeat exams and improve diagnostic quality and consistency
Performance Management Monitor and improve key performance indicators:o Volume per technologisto Repeat and no-show rateso Turnaround timeso Accreditation metricso Cost per studyo Interface error and denial rates
Qualifications
RVT or RVS certification (required) Registered technologist background in cardiac and vascular imaging 1-3+ years of leadership experience in outpatient imaging operations Direct experience managing IAC, ACR, and TJC accreditation Strong understanding of HL7 workflows and troubleshooting Experience with eClinicalWorks and StudyCast preferred Proven ability to manage staffing, payroll, and technologist training Strong collaboration skills with IT, Compliance, and Revenue Cycle teams Bilingual (preferred)
