Now Hiring Union employees working at Norfolk Southern’s Rutherford Rail Terminal in Harrisburg, PA.
Ready to start a hands-on career in a fast-paced, recession-proof industry? Join Pacific Rail Services as an Entry-Level Union Rail Yard Operator and become part of a team that keeps America moving. No CDL? No problem. We provide full training—just bring your drive and determination.
This opportunity is for the Rutherford location only. Pay and benefits may vary at other sites.

What You’ll Earn:
  • Start at $20.50 per hour.
  • Overtime pays $30.75 per hour.
  • After one year: $22.44 per hour.
  • Annual earning potential: $55,000 to $70,000 with overtime.

Your Schedule:
  • 8-hour shifts with a mandatory 4-hour holdover when necessary (up to 12 hours total).
  • Current shift start times: 10AM or 10 PM.
  • Weekends and holidays required.
  • The Railroad operates 24/7/365

What You’ll Do:
  • Drive jockey trucks to move trailers, containers, and chassis around the railyard.
  • Climb railcars, secure tracks, unlock tracks, prep railcars for loading and handle inner box connectors.
  • Assist crane operators with hand signals.
  • Stack and unstack chassis, load and unload chassis racks.
  • Work as part of a team to keep the yard running smoothly.
