Once A Week information

What does a Once a Week job mean?

A 'Once A Week' job refers to a position or role where the employee or worker is only required to work one day per week, rather than on a typical full-time or part-time schedule. These jobs are ideal for individuals seeking supplemental income, those with other commitments, or people who wish to maintain a flexible schedule. Common examples include weekend retail shifts, tutoring, cleaning services, or freelance assignments scheduled weekly. The specific responsibilities and pay can vary depending on the industry and employer.

What are the typical responsibilities and expectations for a Once a Week position?

A 'Once A Week' role typically involves part-time or project-based responsibilities that need to be completed during a single day each week. Commonly, such positions require strong time management skills and the ability to work independently, as you may not be on-site or in contact with the team daily. Tasks could include recurring duties like inventory checks, administrative updates, or client meetings, depending on the industry. Communication is often asynchronous, so clear reporting and documentation are valued. While the position is less frequent, reliability and accountability are essential, since you're responsible for critical tasks within a limited timeframe.

Job description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity delivering speech-language services to students in specialized programs near Waterbury, CT. Two passionate SLPs or SLPAs are needed to provide support from August 26th through June 8th, working 8:45 am–3:35 pm. You’ll play a key role within K–5th-grade self-contained classes serving learners with moderate to profound language disorders, including those with ASD or significant communication needs.

Leverage your experience with augmentative and alternative communication; familiarity with Proloquo2go, LAMP, or Touch Chat is highly valued, as many students benefit from these tools. Supervision of Clinical Fellows or SLPAs can be part of your role, ensuring continued growth and quality care for students.

If selected for preschool support (ages 3–5), you’ll provide focused services there once a week. All assigned sites are conveniently close, allowing for smooth transitions and consistent schedules. Your caseload will vary between 30–40 students, depending on site assignments.

Qualifications:

  • Valid SLP-CCC, SLP-CFY, or SLPA credentials
  • Experience in schools, pediatrics, or healthcare settings
  • Strong foundation in supporting students with language disorders and ASD
  • AAC experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to conduct thorough speech/language evaluations, write SMART goals, and complete comprehensive progress notes
  • Skill in Medicaid billing with SOAP notes
  • Comfortable participating in IEP meetings and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Flexibility to adapt to specialized programs and varying caseloads

Responsibilities:

  • Provide speech and language therapy in self-contained and/or preschool settings
  • Conduct evaluations, triennials, and progress monitoring
  • Maintain thorough documentation and participation in IEP processes
  • Supervise and support CFs and SLPAs as needed
  • Utilize AAC systems as part of intervention plans

Comprehensive benefits are available, including a matching 401k and weekly competitive pay distributed every Friday.

Bring your clinical expertise to an environment where your skills make a daily impact. Apply now to take the next meaningful step in your SLP/SLPA career.

Compensation for this position ranges from $45.92 to $65.92. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
