JOB DESCRIPTION
IT Support Specialist
Job Summary
Cedar County Memorial Hospital is a 10-bed Critical Access Hospital serving El Dorado Springs and the surrounding rural communities. Our IT department is dedicated to keeping clinical and business systems running reliably every day. This position supports the day-to-day operation of the hospital's technology infrastructure - from workstations and printers to servers and network equipment - under the direction of senior IT staff. The right candidate is reliable, resourceful, and comfortable learning on the job in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Core Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
โ€ข Set up, configure, and troubleshoot workstations, printers, and peripheral devices
โ€ข Provide helpdesk support to staff via multiple support channels including phone and on-site visits
โ€ข Install and configure software and perform routine system maintenance
โ€ข Assist with server monitoring and basic administration under direction of senior IT staff
โ€ข Perform and verify data backups
โ€ข Monitor network performance and escalate issues appropriately
โ€ข Maintain logs of repairs, fixes, and maintenance activity
โ€ข Coordinate equipment procurement and track hardware inventory
โ€ข Support onboarding of new clinical and business technology as directed
โ€ข Assist with endpoint security management (antivirus, patching, updates)
โ€ข Maintain accurate records and assist with coordination of technology-related activities
โ€ข Participate in a required after-hours on-call rotation - candidates must be comfortable with this expectation before applying, as it is a standard and ongoing condition of employment
Compliance & Regulatory Support
CCMH operates under CMS Conditions of Participation as a Critical Access Hospital. This role supports compliance efforts under the direction of the IT Manager, including:
โ€ข Following HIPAA Security and Privacy guidelines in all work activities
โ€ข Maintaining system access controls and supporting audit log review
โ€ข Assisting with documentation for surveys, audits, and inspections
โ€ข Supporting data backup and disaster recovery processes per hospital policy
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
โ€ข Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and basic network issues
โ€ข Comfortable working independently and asking for help when needed
โ€ข Strong attention to detail and follow-through
โ€ข Reliable and punctual with good time management
โ€ข Able to communicate clearly with non-technical staff

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification in IT or related field preferred

โ€ข Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems, networking fundamentals, and computer hardware
Preferred Qualifications
