Job description

Position: Moderate Sedation RN – Ophthalmology
City/State/ZIP: Round Rock, TX 78681
Pay: $48–$52/hour
Schedule: Mondays & Tuesdays, 6:00 AM–2:00 PM
Hours: 2 × 8-hour shifts/week
Contract: August 31–October 12, 2026 | 6 weeks
Patient Population: Adults

CareerNation is seeking an experienced Moderate Sedation RN for a 6-week outpatient ophthalmology assignment at a surgery center in Round Rock, TX.

This is an excellent opportunity for an RN looking for a predictable, part-time contract with a consistent Monday/Tuesday daytime schedule.

The RN will primarily support ophthalmology procedures requiring moderate/IV sedation and should be comfortable independently monitoring patients receiving narcotic sedation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care during ophthalmology procedures utilizing moderate/IV sedation
  • Complete pre-procedure assessments and verify patient readiness
  • Establish and maintain IV access as applicable
  • Administer moderate sedation medications according to provider orders and facility protocols
  • Continuously monitor oxygenation, ventilation, circulation, vital signs, and level of consciousness
  • Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
  • Maintain patient safety throughout sedation and recovery
  • Complete accurate procedural and medication documentation
  • Provide post-procedure monitoring and assess readiness for discharge
  • Collaborate with physicians and the surgical team throughout procedures

Requirements

  • Active Texas RN license
  • Current BLS
  • Current ACLS
  • Minimum 1 year of applicable RN experience
  • Recent moderate/conscious/IV sedation experience
  • Comfortable administering and monitoring narcotic sedation
  • Ophthalmology procedural experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to work Mondays and Tuesdays
