Job description

Consultation Nurse (Rapid Response/Code Blue RN)

Community Howard Regional Health is excited to announce a more comprehensive standardized approach to our patient safety and critical care response capabilities by adding Consultation RN's (Code Blue/Rapid Response RN's) to significantly strengthen our commitment to optimal patient care. This structured initiative brings together an expert team of highly skilled critical care nurses to be at the forefront of immediate intervention during critical patient events under standardized protocols. This elevated design signifies how Community Health Network continually works to meet our mission by providing exceptional care to patients we serve by offering rapid, expert assessments and care delivery when every second counts!

The Consultation Nurse responds to situations in the hospital where a patient is showing signs of clinical deterioration. This position will be responsible for monitoring, evaluating and rounding on all patients within the hospital. This position serves as an educational mentor and teaching resource for inexperienced nurses who are learning new procedures or have questions/concerns about a patient's assessment. To maintain critical care nursing skills, the Consultation Nurse will work PRN in the ICU (approximately two shifts per six-week schedule).

Demonstration of performance consistent with professional standards of practice, care, the Nurse Practice Act and the mission and goals of Community Health Network; demonstration of skills in collaboration, delegation, negotiation and management of resources.

Graduate of National League for Nursing (NLN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), or National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA) accredited school of nursing, or three years of related professional nursing experience. Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.

Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license to practice in the state of Indiana as listed in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).

Minimum of 1 year of critical care experience required (3+ years of critical care experience strongly preferred); 2+ years of precepting experience preferred.

ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certified.

Experience with CRRT, IABP, ICP management required.

CCRN certification or willing to obtain within 1 year of hire.

EPIC experience is a plus.
