Position Overview
Kona Community Hospital is seeking an experienced Critical Care Float Pool Registered Nurse with recent Emergency Room (ER) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience. This role supports multiple acute care areas and requires flexibility, strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Candidates must have both ER and ICU experience to be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care for Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit patients.
Float to other nursing units as needed in a supportive role (not as the primary nurse).
Assist with patient transport, telemetry monitoring, and patient observation.
Support patient flow and assist with expediting care across nursing units.
Participate as a member of the Rapid Response Team and Code Blue team when required.
Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver high-quality patient care.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic EMR.
Adhere to hospital policies, patient safety standards, and evidence-based nursing practices.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Active Hawaii Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience.
Recent Emergency Room (ER) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience is required.
Strong clinical assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to adapt quickly and work effectively in a float pool environment.
Schedule & Assignment Details
13-week contract.
12-hour evening and night shifts.
Approximately 72–80 hours every two weeks.
No guaranteed weekly hours.
Holiday coverage required.
No on-call responsibilities.
Additional Information
Facility utilizes Epic electronic medical records.
One position available.
Active state nursing license is required at the time of submission.
