Job description

Position Summary: The Radiation Therapist at WMCC is responsible for using simulators/linear accelerators to administer treatment as prescribed the Radiation Oncologist.
Essential Functions:
  • Safely amp; effectively operate a variety of computerized simulation amp; treatment machines.
  • Maintains working knowledge of and adheres to all universal precautions and principles of radiation safety.
  • Accurately records all treatment data in patient’s electronic medical record.
Working Conditions: Normal office working conditions where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise and the like. Low risk of exposure to radiation.
Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required. Comprehensive knowledge of radiation therapy acquired through accredited radiation therapy program required.
Required Knowledge and Skills: Current American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) certification in radiation therapy or registry eligible (must obtain certification within 6 months). Minimum of 1 year clinical work in a radiation therapy department. Previous experience in health care environment highly desirable. Must have or be able to obtain BLS certification. Excellent interpersonal skill to interact effectively with management, employees, peers and the general public. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to interpret, comprehend and complete complicated and detailed projects in a timely manner. Ability to organize, prioritize and work independently. High degree of integrity to keep confidential all information related to WMCC patients, employees, physicians, and institution related information.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally to waist-high level. Requires assisting patients up to 420 pounds utilizing safe lifting techniques amp; equipment provided. Requires sitting/standing for long period of time. Manual dexterity required to use computer keyboard or other office equipment. Excellent visual and auditory acuity necessary.
