Job description

Are you ready to revolutionize how the world's largest retailer manages its vast product catalog? At Amazon's Classification & Policy Platform within Selection and Catalog Systems, we harness Cloud computing and Generative AI to monitor, classify, and execute policies on billions of items across our global catalog. We're at the forefront of ensuring Amazon's selection remains safe, compliant with global regulations, and delivers the best product discovery experience for millions of customers worldwide. Amazon's catalog—with billions of items—remains the best in the business. That's no accident! We use state-of-the-art Generative AI, machine learning techniques, and cloud computing technologies to keep it that way. A vast and high-quality product catalog is a key strategic asset that sets Amazon apart from competitors.

As a Product Manager Technical (PMT), you will own solutions to customer-facing product catalog challenges that influence critical business processes, product discovery, and agentic commerce experiences. Your work will directly impact how products are handled in distribution centers, how selection is managed across marketplaces, and how we maintain customer trust through intelligent classification. Our work is at the leading edge of Generative AI and agentic systems, leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), machine learning/information retrieval algorithms, and big data analytics to run AI at scale using the best of what AWS has to offer.

This is a high-visibility role where you'll influence technical direction and partner with senior leadership to shape the future of Amazon's catalog management. Come help us make the world's best product catalog even better.

Key job responsibilities
  • Drive Product Vision: Partner with Project Sponsors and cross functional teams to define business requirements, design, performance expectations, and goals with stakeholder teams
  • Influence Technical Direction: Guide software development teams on architecture, design, and priorities while setting best practices for program execution across the organization
  • Lead Cross-Functional Programs: Deliver complex programs spanning multiple engineering teams, applied science groups, and business stakeholders across global organizations. Responsible for the overall coordination, quality, and productivity.
  • Provide Partner and cross functional Communication: Provide clear, concise communication to Director/VP-level stakeholders on program status, risks, and strategic recommendations
  • Build Strategic Partnerships: Establish and maintain relationships across Amazon to leverage existing technologies, drive adoption of team initiatives, and influence organizational priorities
  • Manage Trade-offs: Lead risk assessment, escalations, and strategic trade-offs between business needs, technical constraints, and resource limitations
Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
  • Experience with end to end product delivery
  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
  • Experience managing technical products or online services
  • Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree
  • Experience in building and driving adoption of new GenAI tools and platforms
  • Deep understanding of Responsible AI principles including fairness, transparency, safety, privacy, and bias mitigation
  • Program managed rollout and operations of large-scale commercial enterprise software systems or large-scale online services involving AI/ML
  • Experience with AWS AI/ML services (SageMaker, Bedrock, etc.) and scaling ML operations
  • Experience with e-commerce, catalog management, or compliance, legal, and policy teams
