Votaw Precision Technologies is committed to continuous improvement, innovation, and delivering best-in-class solutions to its customers.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to support our shop floor operations focused on the production of metallic machined components. This role is responsible for developing robust manufacturing plans, creating detailed work instructions, and supporting machining processes across 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC equipment. The ideal candidate will work closely with Quality, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure manufacturing processes are accurate, efficient, and optimized to minimize risk and errors on the production floor. Additionally, this individual will play a key role in supporting the Engineering Review Board by preparing data-driven presentations and critically evaluating technical information prior to release to manufacturing.
Essential Functions
  • Provide daily technical support to the machine shop producing metallic machined components.
  • Support 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC machining operations.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues, drive root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure manufacturing readiness prior to job release.
  • Act as a primary engineering resource to machinists and supervisors.
  • Develop detailed manufacturing plans, routers, and process flows.
  • Create clear, comprehensive work instructions with visuals, tooling requirements, inspection steps, and setup guidance.
  • Define tooling, fixturing, and workholding requirements.
  • Establish machining strategies that balance quality, cost, and cycle time.
  • Maintain revision control and ensure documentation accuracy.
  • Prepare structured presentations for Engineering Review Board meetings.
  • Gather, analyze, and consolidate technical data (drawings, models, inspection data, risk assessments).
  • Critically evaluate information to ensure completeness and manufacturability before release.
  • Identify potential production risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure all process documentation aligns with approved engineering requirements.

  • Strong understanding of metallic materials and machining processes.
  • Experience writing detailed manufacturing work instructions and process documentation.
  • Proficiency reading and interpreting technical drawings and GD&T.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software.
