Job description


The Maintenance Engineer at Hotel Hartness is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and aesthetically excellent operation of all hotel facilities. This role supports guest satisfaction by maintaining guest rooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, and grounds to the highest standards, consistent with a luxury hospitality experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform routine maintenance and repairs on guest rooms, public areas, kitchens, spa, and back-of-house facilities
* Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and mechanical systems
* Conduct preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
* Respond promptly to maintenance requests and guest service issues
* Maintain the hotel's appearance, ensuring all spaces meet brand and quality standards
* Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors as needed
* Perform basic carpentry, painting, drywall, tile, and minor construction work
* Assist with pool, spa, and life-safety system maintenance (as applicable)
* Maintain accurate maintenance logs and work orders
* Follow all safety procedures, OSHA standards, and local/state regulations
* Support emergency response procedures and on-call responsibilities as scheduled
Experience and Skills
Qualifications & Skills
* Minimum 2-5 years of maintenance or engineering experience, preferably in hospitality or a similar environment
* Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
* Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
