Position Summary
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at theCollege of Pharmacy is seeking an On-Call Research Scientist 1 to performscientific research tasks requiring application of standard techniques,procedures, and criteria. The successful candidate will, under generalsupervision, use fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures to performadvanced scientific methods and research tasks requiring development,application, and adaptation of established protocols, and both generate andfollow standard operating procedures for reproducible results. This person willdesign, organize, and perform research experiments for analyses related toachieving project goals and objectives. The individual will collect, analyzeand interpret data, and prepare and present statistical analyses and narrativereports. This individual will be responsible for maintaining a laboratorynotebook and performing scientific experiments and thus should bedetail-oriented. The successful candidate will have experience with analyticalinstrumentation, including high performance liquid chromatography for determinationof drug concentrations in various samples, knowledge and experience withpolymer systems, film coating processes, and casting of free films, andexperience in statistical evaluation and graphical display of data.

Conditions of Employment
  • Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Additional health screenings may be required, dependent on the nature of the research conducted, as determined by Employee Occupational Health Services.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; no previous experience required.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Documented evidence of hands-on research experience in a pharmaceutical sciences laboratory
  • Documented evidence of hands-on use of analytical instrumentation, including high performance liquid chromatography
  • Knowledge of polymer systems, film coating processes, and casting free films
  • Experience writing preliminary reports that summarize data and methods used and that include statistical evaluation and graphical display
