Job description

The Nolensville Groups & Missions Minister is responsible to the church, under the direction of the Administration and Care Minister, to develop, implement and oversee a comprehensive disciple-making strategy that both utilizes and integrates the two ministry areas of groups and missions.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Develop a culture of small groups characterized by disciple-making and community engagement and by mobilizing people (both members and prospects) toward deeper levels of connection and service together as a church.
  • Effectively identify, equip, deploy, and support new group leaders to facilitate the multiplication of new groups to reach new people.
  • Develop strategies and easy on-ramps that assist people in getting connected to group ministry.
  • Design and execute a strategy to ensure that the values of grow, care, and equip are achieved in groups.
  • Ensure that the campus groups ministry aligns with BBC's core ministry philosophy (DXD strategy), including a "dotted-line " relationship with the BBC groups ministry team.
  • Provide regular equipping opportunities for group leaders that develop their spiritual maturity, competence, and confidence in their role.
  • Manage and vet the curriculum used in all groups, ensuring it aligns with the church's statement of faith (BF&M 2000).
  • Engage in regular evaluation and strategic planning with the campus and regional leadership for an overall Acts 1:8 strategy involving all facets of church life, including MTI, community crisis response, missionary identification and member mobilization.
  • Create and implement comprehensive mission's policies, principles and procedures applicable to the campus.
  • Facilitate partnerships between Missions and other campus ministries for cross-ministry missions 'engagement.
  • Lead in building the value and awareness of missions through speakers, website, newsletters, campus bulletins, missions displays, adult missions' curriculum, etc.
  • Identify, plan and execute strategic international, national, state and local missions' experiences commensurate with campus mission, vision, values, size and resources.
  • Recruit, mobilize and equip the laity for personalized missions' experiences
  • Cultivate ministry incubation rhythms whereby campus members' calls to mission ministries can be actualized.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Moblize Groups to share in and support overall Missions engagement.
  • Encourage and facilitate the Nolensville congregation to participate in BBC sponsored Mission Journeys (in coordination with the Brentwood Baptist Missions Department).
  • Be available to serve the church as a decision counselor, pastoral counselor, on -call minister.
  • Develop and maintain the discipleship and missions' ministry budgets.
  • Ensure Nolensville discipleship and missions ministries align with BBC core ministry philosophy and practices including a "dotted line" relationship with BBC ministry champions.
  • Develop, strategize and help mobilize the church for local missions efforts.
  • Develop core local ministries within the overall BBC vision.
  • Participate regularly in campus staff meetings and other Brentwood Baptist staff meetings including relevant Discipleship and Missions department meetings.
  • Maintain a comprehensive self-development plan including personal, professional and shared (organizational) goals.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A personal sense of calling from God to vocational Christian ministry in general and to this particular area of ministry.
  • Can identify closely with the mission, values, vision, theology, philosophy and methodology of Brentwood Baptist Church.
  • A mature Christian who is demonstrates the Fruit of the Spirit, is growing in their faith and is committed to spiritual disciplines such as Bible reading, prayer.
  • The proven ability to identify, equip and lead a team of volunteers.
  • Ability to collaborate, cooperate and function well in a team environment.
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree is required. Seminary degree (or in progress) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working in the local church or Christian ministry context required.
