Job description

Catholic Charities of Long Island models the love of Jesus by offering dignified and compassionate care to poor and vulnerable neighbors of every faith and background. In-person service at more than 50 sites throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties is inspired by the Gospel call affirming the sacredness of every human life.

CCLI is looking for an On Call Licensed Practical Nurse with a generous heart to work in our Talbot House, a   residential withdrawal and stabilization center licensed by the New York State Office of Addiction (OASAS).  We are seeking those with a desire to contribute to the well-being of others to carry out our mission on Long Island. By joining our team, you will share in the joy of providing “care with dignity and life with hope.”


Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, evaluate and care for clients’ condition, ensure compliance with medication procedures, and advise treatment team of any significant changes or treatment issues;
  • Interact extensively with clients in various stages of recovery, helping them to acclimate to program activities and procedures;
  • Provide general education and support in areas of treatment and health maintenance;  
  • Collaborate with medical and clinical staff, and liaise with emergency and/or hospital personnel as needed;
  • Provide documentation in an electronic medical records system.

Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma/GED;
  • NYS Licensed Practical Nurse certification;
  • Nursing experience in behavioral healthcare settings a strong plus;
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team;
  • Strong listening and communication skills necessary to provide client-centered care;  
  • PC proficiency required. Experience with electronic medical records data entry preferred. 

Schedule:

On Call: two shifts per month minimum. 12.5 hours per shift. 7 PM - 7:30 AM or 7 AM - 7:30 PM Flexible schedule available.

Rate of Pay: $40.00 per hour

This rate of pay serves as a good faith estimate. Actual pay is based on a number of factors which may include a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and work location. The salary range or rate listed does not include any differential pay or other forms of compensation which may be applicable to this position.
