Job description

Blessey Marine owns and operates one of the youngest multi-faceted inland tank barge and towing vessel fleets in the United States. Servicing all major petroleum and petro-chemical companies. Blessey Marine has gained respect in the industry by putting safety, customer service and professionalism as its first priorities.

We are in search of an Administrative Assistant for our Barge Maintenance Department.

Position can work in either our Channelview or Liberty, TX location.


JOB TITLE:                    Administrative Assistant              

DEPARTMENT:            Barge Maintenance            

FLSA STATUS:              Non-Exempt         

 

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Provideadministrative and clerical support to the Barge Maintenance Department with afocus on support to the Director and Office Manager by performing the followingduties:

SUPERVISION:

Reports to:                    Barge Maintenance Office Manager

Supervises:                   This position has nosupervisory responsibilities 

ESSENTIALJOB FUNCTIONS:

        Serveas a contact for vessel crew questions regarding barge maintenance issues.

        Workin conjunction with the Barge Maintenance Office Manager to ensure purchaseorders are properly provided and coded to work orders. This may includeresearching purchase orders, invoices and work orders.

        Utilizecomputer applications: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, SAP, TowWorks and anyfuture databases the company may implement.

        Maintainthe Barge Maintenance Department on call schedule.

        Daily,review work orders and assist the Director of Barge Maintenance in prioritizingand assigning port engineers to assignments.

        Followthrough with completion of work orders by the port engineers to ensure detailsare included in work orders.

        Accurateand detailed entry of work order documentation into the company database, toinclude adding information to the "requires repairs/needs attention" and followup.

        Prepareand submit the Daily Hand Off Report.

        Responsiblefor the bi-annual engine service, the orders and tracking delivery status ofthe kits.

        Assistthe Barge Maintenance Officer Manager with vetting questions, responses, andsolutions for response to the Compliance Department.

        Attendsall morning status meetings and provides input and follow-up.

        Performother related duties, as assigned, to ensure efficient and effective functionof the Barge Maintenance Department.


QUALIFICATIONS

        Musthave a proven high level of accuracy.

        Mustbe detailed in composing and proofing all documentation and materials.

        Mustbe able to read, write and speak clearly in the English language.

        High School diploma or GED required; Collegepreferred.

        One(1) to Two (2) years of Clerical experience.

        Proficiencyin or knowledge of a variety of computer software applications, including butnot limited to Excel and Microsoft Word software.

        Highlevel of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situationsand documentation.

        Knowledgeof office administration procedures.

        Abilityto operate most standard office equipment.

        Mustbe able to prioritize and meet deadlines.

        Proficientspelling, grammar and written communication skills.

        Excellenttelephone and oral communication skills.

        Abilityto maintain a high level of confidentiality.

LANGUAGE SKILLS                                                     

Abilityto read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professionaljournals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, businesscorrespondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions fromgroups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS                                             

Abilityto apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions topractical situations.

REASONING ABILITY                                                  

Abilityto define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions inmathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concretevariables.
