Job description

SUMMARY

The Crew Lead - BAS is responsible for overseeing a team of BAS Technicians in the delivery of preventative and corrective maintenance, routine and on-demand services on facility BAS equipment and systems for multiple facilities.  The Crew Lead - BAS is responsible for overseeing the execution of activities performed by BAS Technicians to ensure that work is performed in accordance with established processes and practices and is in compliant with all internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental, health and safety, fire protection.  In addition to people leadership responsibilities, the Crew Lead - BAS also performs and delivers preventative and corrective maintenance as well as routine and on-demand services.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

People Leadership

  • Leads a team of individual contributors 
  • Assigns, prioritizes and monitors work progress to ensure completion and adherence to timeliness, quality standards and all other related requirements
  • Reviews work for completeness and accuracy. Ensures quality adherence is maintained
  • Guides, coaches and trains direct reports
  • Provides input for performance review

Leads the delivery of as well as performs the following subject to legislative licensing requirements:

  • Ensure zero safety incidents by adhering to safety protocols, completing required training, conducting Job Hazard Risk Assessments (JHRA), and maintaining PPE and tool inspections.
  • Oversees and monitors BAS Technicians' activities and performance, acting as a subject matter expert (SME) to guide, mentor, and support team members. Lead safety and operational meetings, provide training, and foster continuous learning.
  • Perform and supervise facility walkthroughs, BAS system inspections, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs to meet uptime objectives and maintain asset integrity.
  • Regularly inspect and monitor facility, BAS systems, and equipment conditions, providing recommendations for enhancements and repairs.
  • Respond promptly to service requests to ensure uninterrupted operations and high-quality service delivery.
  • Oversee work order records, ensuring timely completion, closure, and zero aging.
  • Collaborate with Electricians, HVAC mechanics, external vendors, and various teams (Energy, Smart Buildings, Remote Command Centre) to drive cost savings, improve operational efficiency, and ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Foster positive client relationships by addressing escalations swiftly, delivering high-quality solutions, and ensuring occupant comfort and satisfaction. Provide accurate repair cost and time estimates and oversee repair execution.
  • Oversees the maintenance of as well as maintains work order records within service management maintenance database. Initiates documents to obtain formal approval of work required
  • Coordinates and assists in the implementation of preventative maintenance program.  Ensures that deficiencies are identified, recorded and escalated, and that related documentations are maintained
  • Coordinates and participates in facility-related projects
  • Oversees and maintains all assigned tools and arranges for repair and replacement where required.  Submits all expenditures on a timely basis   
  • Provides, participates and supports training, safety meetings, operational meetings, toolbox talks, etc.
  • Must be able and willing to work shifts, be available for on-call/standby and emergency callouts as they arise
  • Assists in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations through manner in which work is performed and services delivered
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Requirements

  • Must be able to work shifts, be on-call and be available to respond to emergencies
  • Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment
  • Must be able and willing to drive to and perform work at multiple sites

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • More than 5 years of facility operations and maintenance work experience
  • Previous people leadership experience, preferred
  • High school diploma plus trades training and certification
  • Ability to lead a team of individuals
  • Highly-advanced ability to adhere to processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance 
  • Highly advanced ability to maintain and repair BAS equipment and systems
  • Highly advanced BAS equipment and system troubleshooting and resolution skills 
  • Current knowledge of fire, life, safety and building codes and standards and ability to research and apply related codes and standards
  • Possesses a high level of environmental, health and safety mindset. Ability to perform work in a safe manner
  • Strong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency
  • Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

  • Niagara N4 Certification
  • Must meet enhanced security clearance requirements
  • Valid drivers' license

This is a regular, full-time position with an hourly range of $43.33 - $54.16. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate's competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
