Shift: 3x12-Hour Rotating Days/Nights

  • Day: 7:00 AM โ€“ 7:30 PM
  • Night: 7:00 PM โ€“ 7:30 AM
Weekend Requirement: 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks
On-Call: Required
Holiday Requirement: Required as scheduled

Position Overview
The University of Maryland Medical Center's Shock Trauma PACU is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with a strong ICU background. This is a specialized 12-bay unit operating 24/7 and providing peri-anesthesia care for trauma patients undergoing emergency and scheduled surgical procedures. Nurses in this unit must be highly skilled in critical care, airway management, ventilator care, hemodynamic monitoring, and rapid patient stabilization.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide pre-operative and post-anesthesia care to trauma and surgical patients.
  • Monitor and manage critically ill patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures.
  • Titrate vasopressors and administer emergency medications as required.
  • Perform airway assessments and manage ventilated patients.
  • Monitor arterial lines, central lines, and cardiac rhythms.
  • Administer blood products and support fluid resuscitation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR.
  • Float to designated units as needed while maintaining high standards of patient care.
Requirements:
  • Active Maryland RN License or Compact License.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience.
  • PACU experience preferred; however, ICU experience takes priority.
  • Previous travel nursing experience required.
  • Experience in a Level I Trauma Center.
  • Experience with Epic charting system.
