The Role:
The Security Officer (On-Call) primarily provides patrol of LVCVA property within assigned areas in order to react and respond to all matters involving the safety and security of the people and property while acting within the scope of their authority and training.
What You'll Do (Keep in mind that this list in not all inclusive):
  • Perform roving, fixed, foot, bike, cart and mobile patrols including electronic tours, space and equipment inspections and guest and ambassador escorts to be pro-active and provide visibility to guests and ambassadors.
  • Respond efficiently and effectively to various calls for service that involve the safety and security of people present and/or the LVCVA property.
  • Maintain enhanced communications skills to be proficient at report writing and discussion. Communicate at different levels and understand resources when communication barriers present themselves with a focus toward de-escalation.
  • Responds physically to defend one's self or others in the immediate area when imminent harm presents itself. Apply strenuous first aid, fire, active assailant and various other emergency situations.
  • Maintain knowledge of the Nevada Revised Statutes that relate to property operations including but not limited to assault, battery, burglary, disorderly conduct, theft and trespassing.
  • Maintain proficiency with firearms, first aid and in all necessary training courses and certifications necessary for the position and as directed by the Vice President of Customer Safety.
  • Present a neat and clean appearance in order to be approachable and to gain the confidence of guests and ambassadors.
  • Perform additional duties as selected (Emergency Medical Technician, Range Instructor, Bike Officer, etc.) which could require out of state and classroom training lasting from one day to several weeks, and periodic recertification.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

What We're Looking For:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required; associates degree preferred
  • Minimum four years' full-time law enforcement or military experience or a combination of law enforcement, military experience, and education, preferred
  • Regular qualification on the LVCVA-mandated firearms certifications course
  • First aid/CPR/AED training within 90 days of start date; EMT certification preferred
  • Must be able to complete IPMBA Bicycle training
  • Must complete all required and additional training or certifications/licenses as requested by the Vice President of Customer Safety
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from diverse groups.
  • Able to work under all environmental conditions
  • May be assigned to work the morning or evening shift
  • Must have a valid Nevada driver's license at the time of appointment and must keep current during the course of employment
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • Must have the strength to subdue persons, to drag, carry and lift persons and objects more than100 pounds
  • Must have the dexterity to shoot a gun.
  • Ability to be heard and hear in noisy group settings and situations
  • Must be in good physical condition and pass Category IV medical requirements
  • Must be able to drive a motor vehicle
