So, what will the On-Call CDL Driver at Terrestris do?

As the On-Call CDL Driver you will be responsible for safely operating company-owned / rented / leased commercial vehicles to transport goods, equipment, vehicles, materials, and passengers to designated locations on an as-needed basis. This position provides flexible support to meet fluctuating business demands, covering scheduled absences, peak workloads, or special assignments.

This position is ideal for experienced drivers seeking flexibility and supplemental income, or for retired professionals who wish to remain active in the workforce without a full-time schedule. The on-call driver plays a vital role in ensuring the continuity of operations and customer satisfaction during high-demand periods.

What does a typical day look like for an On-Call CDL Driver?

You will:

  • Safely operate assigned vehicles (bus, cars, vans, box trucks, or commercial vehicles) in compliance with all DOT, state, and company regulations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle readiness and safety.
  • Transport goods, materials, or personnel to designated locations in a timely manner.
  • Load and unload cargo when required, ensuring secure and balanced loads.
  • Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage, and delivery documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and customers regarding schedules or delays.
  • Follow all company policies and maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Report mechanical issues, accidents, or safety concerns promptly.

You might be the professional we're looking for if you have:

  • A valid Class A, Class B, Class C CDL license.
  • A clean driving record.
  • Current DOT medical card.
  • Passenger endorsement(s) (P and / or S Endorsement).
  • A minimum of (2) years of commercial driving experience.
  • Familiarity with DOT Hours of Service and electronic logging devices (ELDs).
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Flexibility to work on-call, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Commitment to safety, reliability, and professionalism.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.

We are extra impressed by folks with:

  • Experience operating a school bus or like-sized commercial vehicle.
  • Experience driving long distances / over-the-road (OTR).
  • Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement.
  • Knowledge of standard operating procedures and regulations associated with a typical U.S. military installation.
  • Prior military experience.
