Are you looking for a career in healthcare but don't know where to start? We are currently recruiting for Hospitality Aides who desire to become a certified nursing assistant to join our team. This entry level position will provide valuable experience as you work to further your career by participating in the nursing assistant training program with our professional training partners at Olympic College.
*A mandatory information session required for sponsorship is August 11th from 9am- 10:30am, and formal interviews will take place following the information session

Starting wage is $17.25/hr. to start and then $22.71 upon completion of NAC certification and up depending on related experience as determined by Supervisor and HR.
Wage increases as you earn your Washington State Nursing Assistant Registration (NAR) and Certification (NAC). Certified Nursing Assistants (NAC) begin at $22.71/hour.
**You will be required to sign a one year employment agreement as a full time employee upon completion of the course**
Work at Martha & Mary in Poulsbo full time (30+ hours/week, for a month before the class starts. In the fall, when the class starts - college class time will be for 12 weeks- you will be attending class, clinicals and working shifts as a hospitality aide). You will initially be trained on our campus as a Hospitality Aide. After you begin your nursing assistant training through the college program, and you learn nursing assistant skills, your opportunities to use those new skills on our campus are recognized as part of your clinical training. We work closely with Olympic College to support your success! This is a great opportunity! Be paid by Martha & Mary for your time with us and while attending your college class! The sponsored Nursing Assistant/Hospitality Aide position is primarily a day shift position. We will ensure your schedule accommodates the nursing assistant training class schedule provided by Olympic College. This paid position pays you for your college class time as well as your time working with us.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Resident Care & Support
    • Follow resident assignment schedules as directed by the Charge Nurse or Unit Manager, maintaining alertness and accurate verbal/written communication regarding resident condition and care.
    • Assist residents with mobility needs, including walking with ambulatory residents or pushing wheelchairs.
    • Provide assistance with personal needs and daily living activities in a safe, patient, and respectful manner.
    • Observe residents and promptly report any unusual or abnormal behavior or condition changes to the Charge Nurse.
    • Offer 1:1 interaction and companionship to residents (e.g., reading, games, walks).
  • Dining & Nutrition Assistance
    • Support meal periods, including transporting residents to/from the dining room, taking meal orders, and ensuring accurate and timely tray delivery (within 10 minutes for proper temperature).
    • Feed residents in the Dining Room after proper training, and provide snacks per plan of care after verifying with the Charge Nurse.
    • Fill water pitchers and pass ice water to residents as needed.
  • Communication & Customer Service
    • Answer call lights promptly; handle non-clinical requests (e.g., TV, phone, blankets, snacks) and communicate clinical requests to the NAC, ensuring residents are updated on follow-up.
    • Use tactful, appropriate communication in sensitive and emotional situations.
    • Promote positive public relations with residents, families, and guests by answering non-clinical questions and responding courteously to concerns.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Follow all safety guidelines and Universal Safety Precautions to protect residents, self, and staff.
    • Safely perform physical movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, kneeling, and reaching, with or without reasonable accommodations.
    • Utilize equipment safely; report any malfunctions immediately.
    • Participate in emergency, fire, or disaster drills and assist with safe evacuation procedures, including stairwell use.
  • General & Administrative Support
    • Make beds, tidy rooms, and escort residents to and from in-house appointments and activities (e.g., Chapel, Beauty Shop, Restorative programs).
    • Provide clerical assistance and help locate lost laundry or personal items.
    • Participate in and assist with building activities and events.
    • Maintain regular attendance in accordance with facility policy and perform special duties as assigned.
  • Training & Program Participation
    • Meet or exceed requirements necessary to participate in the Olympic College Nursing Assistant Training Program (see details at www.Olympic.edu).
Required Qualifications

  • Must have less than 45 cumulative college credits

High School diploma or equivalent required, less than 45 cumulative college credits obtained.
