Job description

River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Empire Valley, distribute a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY.

General Description/Purpose:

The Floater is responsible for a variety of tasks including loading outbound trucks and filling out load sheets, selecting customer orders in a timely and accurate manner, auditing orders, breaking down inbound orders for receivers when time allows, accurately unloading floor loads to pallets and any tasks that are needed throughout the day.

Schedule:

  • Sunday-Thursday, 7am – 3:45pm

Wages:

  • $20.00 per hour

Job Responsibilities:

  • Load outbound trailers/prepare BOLs
  • Lump/break down receiving orders/floor loaded orders
  • Perform pre-operation inspections of any equipment being used
  • Select/Pick stock to fill customer orders/weigh pallets
  • Read order requirements and shelf locations
  • Ensure order accuracy while meeting productivity goals
  • Work with team members and supervisors to ensure coordination of work
  • Perform additional job duties as required by leads supervisor

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Forklift/ride on walkie rider certified
  • Attention to detail
  • Computer knowledge
  • Ability to take direction
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have reliable transportation

 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior warehouse experience preferred


 

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to stand, walk, lift and bend for extended periods of time
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds consistently throughout the shift
