Job description

The Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of oilfield fishing and rental equipment used in drilling, completion, and intervention operations. This role supports field operations by ensuring all equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for deployment while maintaining compliance with company standards and industry regulations.


Responsibilities:


  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain oilfield fishing and rental tools, equipment, and support machinery.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and diesel-powered equipment.
  • Disassemble, inspect, clean, rebuild, and test fishing tools and rental equipment.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and repair documentation.
  • Assist in preparing equipment for field jobs and customer deliveries.
  • Conduct function testing and pressure testing as required.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and identify root causes.
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and shop equipment safely.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company safety policies and API/industry standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop and work areas.
  • Assist field personnel with emergency repairs and operational support when needed.
  • Participate in after-hours or on-call work as required by operations.


Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Technical or vocational training preferred.
  • 2+ years of mechanical experience in oilfield services, heavy equipment, diesel mechanics, or related industry preferred.
  • Experience with fishing tools, downhole tools, rental equipment, or tubular handling equipment is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Basic welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems, mechanical assemblies, bearings, seals, and pressure-containing equipment.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment with changing priorities.
