  • Assist the Port Engineer and Captain(s) to conduct maintenance activities on company vessels and vehicles. Thoroughly document all activities as required, creating a functional recordkeeping history such as Helm Connect and Limbl.
  • Assist the Port Engineer and Captain(s) with providing service to the boat and vehicle fleet, with long term guest safety, comfort, and costs in mind
  • Assist Port Engineer with inspections of vital, and safety systems on our vessel, vehicles, our land facilities
  • Assist the captains with maintenance activities of the boat crew. Stress the value of scheduled routine maintenance
  • Assist the Port Engineer and/or Transportation Coordinator to help ensure vessels and vehicles are maintained within applicable US Coast Guard and US Department of Transportation standards
  • Assist the Port Engineer to keep critical spares in stock. Maintain and organize adequate supplies of key maintenance and repair parts on hand to ensure periodic maintenance can happen without waiting for parts, and that down time is minimized during summer months.
  • Provide guidance and support to entry-level team members, including Assistant Port Engineer I roles
  • Assist the Port Engineer and Transportation Coordinator with maintenance and repair of the company's vehicle fleet.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to the Assistant Port Engineer for the new and used oil collection and distribution program. This includes vessel oil sampling, conducting vessel and vehicle oil changes, and maintaining adequate filter inventory
  • Coordinate with the Assistant Port Engineer I and Land Facilities Maintenance Technician to ensure that the Phoenix Avenue warehouse is maintained with safety and functionality in mind
  • Assist with land facilities maintenance and Fox Island maintenance as required

Skills and Abilities:
  • Thorough understanding of operation, troubleshooting, and repair of marine diesel and gas internal combustion engines
  • Strong working knowledge of plumbing systems and AC/DC electrical troubleshooting and repair
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing marine propulsion systems and control systems
  • Knowledgeable in vehicle maintenance and general mechanical systems, SAE certification is preferred but not required
  • General understanding of vessel systems and how they integrate (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, etc.)
  • Basic to intermediate fabrication and carpentry skills
  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of accuracy in parts and record-keeping tasks
  • Analytical thinking with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team
  • Ability to operate small heavy equipment required to maintain fleet and land facilities
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, solution-focused mindset
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement

Work Environment:
  • This role operates in a marine and maintenance setting, working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. The Assistant Port Engineer II collaborates closely with engineers, operations staff, and occasionally guest-facing teams to support seamless operations. The environment is fast-paced, hands-on, and team-oriented, with a strong focus on delivering safe and enjoyable guest experience

Physical Abilities:
  • Physical ability to climb ladders, crawl, kneel, bend, twist at the waist, and stand on uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to push, pull, carry and lift objects weighing up to 100 pounds with on a regular basis
  • Enter and operate in confined spaces
  • Operate power tools
  • Operate in environment with breathing apparatus
  • Operate company vehicles

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 2 years of experience in marine maintenance or equivalent
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical certification or formal training as a marine technician, heavy equipment, automotive, or a related field strongly preferred
  • Experience in commercial vehicle maintenance
  • Parts inventory and purchasing experience
  • Aware of general principles of Inventory Management
  • Previous experience with marine vessels or in tourism/hospitality operations is an asset
  • Able to obtain a DOT Medical Card
