Job description

Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) โ€“ Fly-In/Fly-Out (14/14 Rotation)

Location: Fort McMurray, AB (Remote Camp)
Schedule: 14 Days In / 14 Days Out | 12-Hour Shifts
Travel: Fly-In/Fly-Out from designated hubs (typically Edmonton or Calgary)
Accommodation: Camp accommodations and meals provided


Position Summary

The Millwright is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial mechanical equipment at a remote Fort McMurray worksite. supports safe and reliable plant operations in a high-performance, safety-focused industrial environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial equipment including pumps, motors, conveyors, gearboxes, compressors, and rotating equipment
  • Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, drawings, and manufacturer manuals
  • Align machinery using precision tools (dial indicators, lasers)
  • Diagnose mechanical failures and determine appropriate repair solutions
  • Perform bearing replacements, seal changes, shaft repairs, and equipment overhauls
  • Use hoisting, rigging, and lifting equipment safely and effectively
  • Conduct inspections and document maintenance activities
  • Follow all site safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO)
  • Collaborate with operations, supervisors, and other trades to support plant reliability
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and a strong safety culture

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Journeyperson Millwright / Industrial Mechanic certification (Red Seal preferred) or 433A
  • Minimum 1โ€“5 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in oil sands, mining, or heavy industrial environments
  • Strong knowledge of rotating equipment and mechanical systems
  • Ability to work independently in a remote camp setting
  • Physically capable of lifting, climbing, and working extended hours
  • Valid Class 5 driverโ€™s license
  • Ability to pass pre-access drug & alcohol testing
